How much energy is generated from renewable/alternate energy sources?

Not a lot. I don’t have specifics, but in terms of total US energy uses, renewable accounts for probably less than 10%, and most of that is hydroelectric. Wind power and solar account for very small fractions, and crop power is negligible — mostly because most of that is ethanol from corn, which produces no net energy: it takes as much energy to produce a gallon of ethanol as it contains.
