why cant we agree on renewable energy?

ive been reading discovery magazine and watching some things on the science channel about renewable energy, so here are my key points
point 1. 99.999999999999999 people know that fosil fuels are bad.
point 2. the technology is out there
point 3. well i dont know if its a point so much as the question but why can we just get together, lock our selfs in a room and not come out untill the energy problem is fixed? im exsagerating but their are some truly great ideas out there so i dont under stand why we cant unite and just fix this earth.

It’s expensive, simple as that. People don’t like to invest money without a guaranteed return on their investment, and large profit margins.
